Electric and Hybrid vehicles brake differently. Regenerative braking saves pads, but it also increases corrosion and seizure risk – especially at the rear

Common EV Brake Issues:

Regen braking: reduces pad use but prevents heat cycling
Disc corrosion: from low-friction city driving
Rear brake seizure: from EPB + low usage
Brake-by-wire systems: require correct service procedures
Higher vehicle mass: increases heat load under emergency stops
Fluid ageing: still matters even if pads barely wear
MOT relevance: corrosion + imbalance = common failures
